The cast for Ryan Murphy’s upcoming anthology series, FEUD has added Sarah Paulson to the all-star roster. Paulson, who frequently collaborates with Murphy, is set to play Academy Award-winning actress Geraldine Page in the FX series about the legendary battle between movie stars Joan Crawford and Bette Davis.
Murphy’s third anthology will focus on a different epic battle every season. The first season will follow the rivalry between Crawford (Jessica Lange) and Davis (Susan Sarandon) and how they came together in 1962 to make What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?, a film that went on to nab five Oscar nominations and become a cult classic.
Paulson will play Page, a legendary actress who was nominated for an Academy Award the same year Davis earned a nom for What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?. Also nominated that year were Anne Bancroft, Katherine Hepburn, and Lee Remick. It was said that Crawford secretly contacted the other nominees to let them know that if they could not attend the ceremony that she would be happy to accept the Oscar on their behalf. They all agreed and when Bancroft won, Crawford accepted on her behalf. Davis then claimed that Crawford campaigned against her.
Paulson has become part of Murphy’s acting collective having appeared in his other anthology series American Horror Story and The People Vs. O.J.: American Crime Story. She also appeared on the big screen opposite Cate Blanchett in the Oscar-nominated Carol and can be seen next in the J.D. Salinger biopic Rebel in the Rye.
