The show is described as the story of “a woman who loses – and then finds – her sh*t.” Based on Bamford’s real-life experiences, including her struggle with bi-polar disorder, the series is filtered through the comedienne’s trademark brand of off-kilter, occasionally surreal, but entirely original comedy.
Other stars set to appear include SNL alums Jenny Slate and Ana Gasteyer (in addition to Silverman), former Supermen Dean Cain and Brandon Routh, Emmy winner Jon Cryer and Oscar winner Mira Sorvino.
Bamford, who also voices the animated series Adventure Time, previously worked with Netflix when the streaming service distributed her 2012 special, The Special Special Special. The stand-up routine took a unique approach to the form, as Bamford performed her special in her home in front of an audience of two: her parents.
Lady Dynamite is set to debut on Netflix in 2016.
