Sci-fi novel THE DIABOLIC has been scooped up by and . The project from writer S.J. Kincaid is described as Red Queen meets The Hunger Games.

The story centers around the galaxy’s most fierce warrior, a humanoid teen masquerades as a senator’s daughter and a hostage of the galactic court. When the power-mad emperor learned the young girl’s senator father is planning a rebellion, she is summoned to the Galactic Court to be turned into a hostage. The deadly humanoid assumes her identity and has an awakening as she deals with all the backstabbing and politics inherent in a crumbling empire.

The property was brought to Sony Pictures by of Literary Ryan Doherty and the deal was made by Paradigm for Waxman Leavell Literary Agency.

The book was published by Simon & Schuster for Young Readers this year.

Tolmach has several film and television currently including Jumanji with Dwayne Johnson and Karen Gillian, and Rock That Body with Scarlett Johansson and Kate McKinnon. On television, they have Futureman from Seth Rogen on Hulu, and the pilots Postal and The Astronaut Instruction Manual.
