Scott Eastwood has been tapped to star in Ben Affleck’s crime drama LIVE BY NIGHT. Eastwood, who previously worked with Affleck on Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad, will play the brother to Affleck’s character in the studio’s prohibition-era drama. Chris Messina, Chris Cooper, Elle Fanning, Max Casella, Sienna Miller, and Zoe Saldana also star in the adaptation of the Dennis Lehane novel.
Affleck stars as Joe Coughlin, son of a prominent police captain, who eventually becomes mixed up in the world of organized crime, taking him from Boston to Florida and Havana, Cuba. Affleck is directing and producing, with the studio pushing for an intended 2017 release.
Eastwood’s biggest role to date came with the Nicholas Sparks adaptation The Longest Ride, which co-starred Britt Robertson. Before that, he appeared opposite Brad Pitt in David Ayer’s war drama Fury.
He’ll next re-team with Ayer and Warner Bros. for the superhero team-up pic Suicide Squad, which features a cameo from Affleck’s Batman. Will Smith and Margot Robbie lead the proceedings, with Eastwood’s role kept firmly under wraps. He’ll also appear in Oliver Stone’s Snowden biopic, which also stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Shailene Woodley.
Eastwood is repped by UTA and Joanne Horowitz Management.
