Fox horror-comedy SCREAM QUEENS continues to mine television stars of the past and present with the addition of Cheers and Veronica’s Closet star Kirstie Alley. She joins other new regulars including John Stamos, Taylor Lautner, and James Earl.
The second season brings returning cast members Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Abigail Breslin, Billie Lourd, Keke Palmer, and others back but in a new location at a hospital called the C.U.R.E. Insitute. Alley will play a devious administrator at C.U.R.E. The new season returns on Sept. 20 at 9pm on Fox.
Co-creator Ryan Murphy has a knack for bringing big name talent to his series. While in the past this was typically for one or two episode stints on Glee, like Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Hudson, his series The People V. OJ Simpson managed to snag John Travolta in a regular, as did American Horror Story with Jessica Lange and Lady Gaga. He has also booked Academy Award-winning actors Susan Sarandon and Catherine Zeta-Jones for his next FX drama project, Feud.
Alley most recently starred in the TV Land sitcom Kirstie and guest-starred in Will Arnett’s Netflix series Flaked. She is best known for her role opposite Ted Danson on Cheers, where her character was created to fill the void left by Shelley Long’s exit. Alley wound up winning an Emmy for her part and went on to star in her own sitcom Veronica’s Closet and Showtime’s Fat Actress, prior to her TV Land series.
