The big screen adaptation of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips’ comic INCOGNITO has tapped up and coming screenwriter Daniel Casey to work on the script. The project was previously in development at 20th Century Fox with Robert Schenkkan scripting. Now at Sony, Fede Alvarez and his writing partner, Rodo Sayagues penned the latest draft.
Last year, the Tracking Board broke the news that Alvarez has taken the director’s reins of the story which follows Zack Overkill, a supervillain who becomes enlisted in the witness protection program after he snitches on his megalomaniac boss, The Black Death. Confined to a dreary life working as a mailman, Zack’s forced to take a drug to dull his powers. After discovering a way to tap into his super strength again, Zack develops a change of heart and becomes a vigilante, doing good while evading a vengeful Black Death.
Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping are set to produce with David Engel and Stephen Emery of Circle of Confusion on board as executive producers. Jonathan Kadin and Tonia Davis will oversee at Sony.
Casey made his indie debut in 2007 with The Death of Michael Smith, which premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival and received a special jury award. He also penned the spec Godforsaken which recently sold to STX with Sylvester Stallone set to star.
He is repped by CAA, Rob Herting, David Kopple, and Writ Large.
