Selena Gomez has signed on to her next big role opposite Paul Rudd in REVISED FUNDAMENTALS OF CAREGIVING. Based on Jonathan Evison’s 2013 novel by the same name, the film follows a caregiver looking after a frustrated teenager who is in the advanced stages of Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Gomez will play Dot, a sassy 17-year-old who hitches a ride with the pair during a road trip, and whose forwardness about the boy’s condition leads him to develop a crush on her. Rob Burnett is writing and directing. Donna Gigliotti and James Spies are producing the Levantine Film and Worldwide Pants production.
The overwhelmingly popular actress and singer received her big break as the troublesome teenager, Alex, on Disney Channel’s hit show Wizards of Waverly Place. She has since transitioned into films with credits such as Rudderless, Spring Breakers, and Ramona and Beezus. Gomez has also steadily progressed off-screen, releasing her first greatest hits album, “For You,” and signing with Interscope Records. She can soon be heard reprising her voice role in Hotel Transylvania 2 alongside Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg.
Gomez is repped by WME and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
