After getting canceled at the beginning of the month, Netflix series SENSE8 is returning from the cancellation grave for a two-hour finale episode. The series announced the news on its Twitter page in the form of a letter from co-creator Lana Wachowski (sister Lilly Wachowski stepped back from the series after the first season). J. Michael Straczynski created the show with the Wachowskis.
“The outpouring of love and grief that came in the wake of the news that Sense8 would not be continuing was so intense, that I often found myself unable to open my own email,” Wachowski opens the letter. “I confess I fell into a fairly serious depression. I had never worked so hard, or put so much of myself into a project as I had with Sense8 and its cancellation hollowed me out.”
The letter goes on to express the heartbreak felt for everyone involved in this project, from the actors and crew, to the fans who petitioned and championed this show and made the finale a possibility — “Improbably, unforeseeably, your love has brought Sense8 back to life. (I could kiss every single one of you!)” Read the full letter below.
