Funnymen Seth Rogen, Zach Galifianakis and Bill Hader are set to star in THE SOMETHING, a new sci-fi comedy for Universal. The film is being produced by Good Universe and Rogen’s shingle Point Grey. 22 Jump Street sribe Rodney Rothman, who wrote The Something screenplay, will make his directorial debut.
The story follows a group of male astronauts, who, after being stuck in space for years come upon another ship. The script itself had been floating around for some time–as early as 2010–with Rose Byrne in talks to star.
Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver will produce for Point Grey, while Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake will executive produce for Good Universe. Erik Baiers and Chloe Yellin will oversee for Universal, Erin Westerman will oversee for Good Universe, and Alex McAtee will oversee for Point Grey.
Rogen, who appeared in the Oscar-nominated Steve Jobs, is currently filming James Franco’s The Disaster Artist and voicing the animated Sausage Party for Sony. Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising is set to release in May. His frequent collaborator, Hader, recently starred in Amy Schumer’s Trainwreck, and will appear in Steven Spielberg’s The BFG later this year. Galifianakis’s FX series, Baskets, premiered in January.
Hader is repped by UTA.
Galifianakis is repped by UTA and Brillstein Entertainment.
Rogen is repped by UTA and Gotham/Principal.
Rothman is repped by UTA and Ziffren Brittenham.
