FX has given Denis Leary’s new show SEX&DRUGS&ROCK&ROLL a 10-episode order.
The comedy series with a rock music bent follows a middle-aged lead singer who desperately wanted to be rich and famous but never quite made it. Leary, who also created the show and is serving as an executive producer, stars as Johnny Rock, the former frontman trying to put his life, and the band, back together. Written by Leary out of his Apostle Productions, the show also features John Corbett (“Sex and the City”), Elizabeth Gillies, Bobby Kelly, and Elaine Hendrix. The show is set to be filmed on location in New York City.
Leary has previous history with FX. He created and starred in “Rescue Me” for the network. The drama, about a man dealing with the fears of his job as a firefighter, ran for seven seasons and garnered several Emmy nominations.
Leary is repped by WME.
