Nicole Kidman announced today at India’s Hindustan Times Leadership Summit that Shailene Woodley had joined the cast of David E. Kelley’s limited series on HBO, BIG LITTLE LIES. The cabler has declined to confirm the casting, though there have been reports that Woodley and Laura Dern were in talks to join the cast.
Woodley would star opposite Kidman and Reese Witherspoon in the dark comedy that follows three mothers of kindergarten children whose perfect lives get out of control to the point of murder. The series is adapted from the 2014 novel by Liane Moriarty. Woodley would play a single mom whose troubled son is accused of bullying.
Kidman and Witherspoon are executive producing through Kidman’s Blossom Films and Witherspoon’s Pacific Standard. They will executive produce alongside Kelley.
Woodley starred in this year’s Insurgent, the sequel to the YA franchise Divergent. She will be seen in the next installment, Allegiant, next year as well as Snowden opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Scott Eastwod.
She is repped by UTA and Principato-Young Entertainment.
