Showtime Picks Up Adaptation Of “Purity” Starring Daniel Craig

Showtime beat out the likes of Netflix an FX in a bidding war for PURITY starring and produced by Scott Rudin.

The premium cable channel gave the straight-to-series drama a generous 20-episode order. Based on the Jonathan Franzen novel, it will be adapted by Todd Field into a limited series that will air over the course of two years. Franzen and David Hare will also be in the room for the series. Craig will serve as executive alongside Hare, Franzen, Field, Rudin, and Eli Bush.

Originally published in 2015, Purity tells a complex story of youthful idealism, loyalty and murder. The series will parallel the book by focusing on intersecting storylines of multiple people from across the globe of different ages and backgrounds.

Craig has been making headlines as of late for his talk about ending his run as Bond in the 007 franchise. He was recently cast in Logan Lucky directed by Steven Soderbergh.
