Silicon Valley star Thomas Middleditch is the latest actor to join the cast of Legendary and Warner Bros.’ GODZILLA: KING OF MONSTERS, after voicing a small off-camera character in Kong: Skull Island, the Tracking Board has confirmed. Kyle Chandler and Millie Bobby Brown are also set to star in the sequel to 2014’s Godzilla, set for release on March 22, 2019, a year before the epic showdown Godzilla vs. Kong.
In the last film, the King of Monsters returned to the sea as the media hailed Godzilla a savior after a battle with the MUTOs aka Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism. It’s unclear where the sequel will go following this.
Also set to appear in the film Vera Farmiga, O’Shea Jackson, Jr., Anthony Ramos, Aisha Hinds, Charles Dance, and Sally Hawkins returning to her role from the first film. Michael Dougherty is directing the film after original director Gareth Edwards departed the project. Dougherty co-wrote the script with Zach Shields.
In 2015, it was announced that all future Godzilla and King Kong projects would be developed by Legendary and distributed by Warner Bros.
Middleditch is best known for his role as Richard on HBO’s Silicon Valley, which began in 2013 and is currently airing its fourth season. This weekend he can be heard in Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie alongside Kevin Hart and then he’ll be seen in the action-comedy Once Upon a Time in Venice. He’s represented by APA, WME, and Kirsten Ames Management.
