Simon Pegg has taken the lead in the upcoming sci-fi comedy ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING. The cast already includes Monty Python members (in a voice only capacity) Michael Palin, John Cleese, Terry Jones, Terry Gilliam and Eric Idle as well as Robin Williams in a voice role as well. The story revolves around a dim-witted man (Pegg) who is given the power to do anything his heart desires from aliens deciding if earth is worth saving. Unfortunately he only wishes to make his dog (Robin Williams) talk and his dream girl fall in love with him. That sounds pretty good for him, probably bad for the rest of the world though. It sounds more than a little influenced by “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” but that’s not a complaint and they already had me at the title. Yep, SOLD.
Terry Jones will direct from a script he co-wrote with Gavin Scott. Mike Medavoy and David Thwaites will produce.
Pegg was last seen in the capper to the Cornetto/Blood and Icecream trilogy “The World’s End” and can be seen currently in Frank Darabont’s “Mob City.” He’ll soon show up in “Kill Me Three Times.”
He is repped by UTA.
