Simon Pegg will be pulling double-duty for Paramount’s upcoming STAR TREK 3. He has been tapped to co-wrote the script with Doug Jung (Dark Blue, Big Love). It was previously announced that Fast and Furious helmer Justin Lin would be brought on to take over the director’s chair from Roberto Orci, who stepped down, though he is still on board as a producer with Bad Robot and Skydance Productions.
Pegg stars as Montgomery “Scotty” Scott in the rebooted Star Trek franchise, which sees Chris Pine as Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Spock. Pegg is also currently filming another big franchise: Mission: Impossible 5 with Tom Cruise and Jeremy Renner.
Jung has worked with Paramount and Bad Robot before, working on recent draft of the film Diamond. He has also written for several TV series, including So Weird, Dark Blue, and most recently, Banshee on Cinemax.
Pegg is repped by UTA and Dawn Sedgwick Management. Jung is repped by UTA and Circle of Confusion.
