Paul McCartney is set to appear in next year’s PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES. Production has wrapped, but directors Joachim Ronning and Espen Sanderberg went back and filmed an additional set-piece revolving around McCartney.
The film stars Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa, Javier Bardem as Captain Salazar, Orlando Bloom as Will Turner, and new additions Brenton Thwaites and Kaya Scodelario. The film follows Sparrow as he searches for the triton of Poseidon.
This is the fifth installment of the Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer Films franchise. The last film, On Stranger Tides, grossed over $1 billion worldwide. Dead Men is set to bow May 26, 2017.
Details of McCartney’s role are being kept under wraps. This is not the first time an iconic musician has been featured in the franchise. Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones played Jack Sparrow’s father Captain Teague in On Stranger Tides.
McCartney is managed by MPL Communications.
