Tom Hanks and his bizarre SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE character, David S. Pumpkins gets a Halloween-themed animated special. David S. Pumpkins went viral last year, which is why NBC decided to do a half hour special.
The sketch back on October 22 2016 was titled Haunted Elevator. The sketch featured Hanks in a pumpkin suit as the mystery man David S. Pumpkins. It featured Hanks along with two skeleton-dressed dancers played by Mikey Day and Bobby Moynihan.
Hanks will open up the half-hour episode as well as voice the animated character.
The special will center on David Pumpkins and his skeleton friends who show a young boy and his sister the true meaning of Halloween in a small suburban town on All Hallows’ Eve.
Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage will also voice a character along with sketch creators Day, Moynihan and SNL writer Streeter Seidell. The animation will be provided by Bento Box Entertainment. Streeter Seidell,
Mikey Day, and Bobby Moynihan will write and produce. Lorne Michaels will executive produce.
The special is set for Saturday October 28 at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT.
