Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie has been tapped to host the season premiere of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. Robbie’s star has been shining bright all year long and it looks like the late night mainstay is hoping for a piece of her popularity after a summer of shake-ups.
Robbie burst onto the scene in Wolf of Wall Street and more recently starred as the infamous Harley Quinn in this summer’s Suicide Squad in addition to roles in Tarzan and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. Her production company LuckyChap Entertainment has several projects in the works for Robbie to star in and produce including Terminal, Tonya Harding film I, Tonya, and a Suicide Squad spin-off centered on Harley Quinn.
SNL made headlines with the dismissals of Jay Pharoah, Taran Killam, and Jon Rudnitsky and the additions of Mikey Day, Alex Moffat, and Melissa Villasenor. They also promoted Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider, who have penned some of the show’s biggest viral hits, to co-head writers. The show will premiere its 42nd season on October 1.
