Bob Hoskins, Toby Jones and Eddie Izzard have signed on as dwarfs in Universal’s upcoming revisionist tale SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN alongside Ian McShane. Unlike the popular 1937 Disney version, dwarfs will not have cute names befitting of their personalities. Instead, McShane will play Caesar, the leader of the crew, Hoskins will play Constantine, Jones will play Claudius and Izzard will play Tiberius. They all join co-stars Charlize Theron, Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth. The re-imagining follows Snow White (Stewart) as she escapes her evil stepmother (Theron) with the help of the Huntsman (Hemsworth), who is sent to kill her, but instead, helps her fight back.
Hossein Amini is currently rewriting the script, which was originally penned by Evan Daugherty with a polish by Evan Spiliotopoulos. Rupert Sanders will direct.
Production on the high-profile project is slated to start in August.
