Sophie Cookson has signed on to star opposite Adrien Brody in EMPEROR. The historical drama tells the story of a young girl who seeks revenge on the holy roman Emperor Charles V for the death of her father in the world of wealth, debauchery, violent retaliations, sex, manipulation and treason. Cookson will star as the feisty girl who infiltrates the court of Charles V. She joins the ever growing cast, including Oliver Platt, Paz Vega, Gotz Otto, Bill Skarsgard, Thomas Kretschmann, Sam Louwyck, Michael Pas, Lize Feryn, and Rutger Hauer. Eddie Marsan is in talks to join the cast as well. Lee Tamahori is directing from a script written by Michael Thomas III and Jeffrey Hatcher.
So far in her career, Cookson has acted primarily in television roles in projects like the miniseries “Moonfleet,” German drama series “Rosamunde Pilcher,” and the TV movie “Unknown Heart.” Next up, Cookson will star as the female lead in Matthew Vaughn’s action comedy “Kingsman: The Secret Service” opposite Colin Firth.
