Ken Leung, an alum of both The Sopranos and Lost who also has five major film franchises under his belt, has been cast as Karnak in Marvel’s INHUMANS television series on ABC, the Tracking Board has learned.
Karnak is Black Bolt’s cousin and closest advisor. His gift is an ability to see the fault in all things — people, plans, structures, everything. He’s Black Bolt’s most ardent supporter and strategist and is often seen as the royal family’s planner and philosopher.
“Ken brings both a wisdom and a power to the role that no one else could match. His Karnak will be awesome,” said executive producer Jeph Loeb.
“Ken Leung has a great natural intelligence that reads clearly and will add depth and complexity to the very complicated character of Karnak,” added executive producer Scott Buck.
Inhumans chronicles the epic adventure of the royal family including Black Bolt, the enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans, who has a voice so powerful that the slightest whisper can destroy a city.
Marvel recently announced that Anson Mount (Hell on Wheels) will star as Black Bolt, Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones) will play Black Bolt’s brother Maximus, while Serinda Swan (Ballers) will play the queen Medusa.
It was previously announced that a version of the first two episodes of the new ABC series will premiere exclusively in IMAX theaters for a two-week window this September, prior to the 8-episode network run.
Marvel’s Inhumans were first introduced in Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965. In addition to Buck and Loeb, the TV series is executive produced by Jim Chory, with Buck serving as showrunner. Roel Reine is directing the first two episodes of Inhumans, which is co-produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios.
Leung recently played Admiral Statura in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He also appeared in the X-Men (The Last Stand), Rush Hour, Saw and Hannibal Lecter (Red Dragon) franchises.
