A mere two years from its premiere and we are already receiving glimpses of STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII! Along with a short video revealing principal production has gotten underway, it has also been announced that Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern, and Kelly Marie Tran have been added to the cast.
Few details are known about the next installment of the megafranchise that will continue the stories of stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Adam Driver. The trio also join Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong’o, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis in the sequel written and directed by Rian Johnson. Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman produce with J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski executive producing.
Dern also recently signed on for Rebel In The Rye, the J.D. Salinger biopic from Danny Strong starring Nicholas Hoult and Kevin Spacey. Most recently she was seen in 99 Homes with Andrew Garfield and Michael Shannon. She is repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.
Del Toro starred in last year’s Sicario as well as providing a voice in The Little Prince. He will also reprise his role as “The Collector” in the Marvel sequel Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2. He is repped by CAA and LBI Entertainment.
Tran is best known for her work on CollegeHumor Originals having having appeared in numerous sketches as well as their new comedy series Adam Ruins Everything. She is repped by Talent House LA and Arc Artists Management.
