“Starman” Remake Taps “Night At The Museum” Director Shawn Levy



is set to blast off as the director of Columbia Pictures‘ remake of the -directed 1980s sci-fi classic, STARMAN.

will write the script, which was originally written by Bruce A. Evans and . Levy will also produce alongside , who also produced the original. and from Levy’s banner will serve as exec while and from Columbia overseeing the project.

The original movie starred Jeff Bridges and Karen Allen and told the story of an alien who lands on Earth and takes the form of a woman’s dead husband. With the government hot on his tail, the alien and the woman go on a road trip to the rendezvous site for him to go home, but things take a turn as a romantic relationship develops between them.

Levy has a long list of directing and producing credits which include the Night at the Museum franchise, Real Steel, Date Night and the forthcoming comedy, Fist Fight starring Ice Cube and Charlie Day. He recently directed and served as executive producer of the Netflix series Stranger Things which is set to bow later this year.
