The Launch Pad Pilots Competition Presents…
Title: STATIC
Logline: As war in Europe looms on the horizon, a lounge singer in 1940s New York schemes to get his own radio show at an upstart station, helped along by his strange, supernatural visions.
Pitch: THE HOUR meets TOUCH
Writer: Keith Davidson
Genre: Drama | Period | Supernatural
Why to Read: This is a fascinating drama – with just a hint of supernatural content – which thrives on its ominous atmosphere and elegant setting. At first glance, a TV show about a radio show doesn’t seem like an obvious fit, but this is undoubtedly cinematic. The WRED building is the perfect setting for a TV show with its lavish, near-mythological decorations. Meanwhile, the characters that inhabit the building are both captivating and mysterious, providing ample amounts of intrigue. Add to that the impending doom of World War II, and this pilot has the perfect set-up. You are left wanting to see more when you reach the last page, and that is the most important benchmark for a pilot.
