The untitled Batman vs. Superman project adds Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey and Tao Okamoto to its star-studded cast. The “Man of Steel” follow-up will unite Ben Affleck’s Batman and Henry Cavill’s Superman along with Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. Rounding out the cast are Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane. With a cast like this, they aren’t messing around.
Mulvey was rumored to be attached to the film as the villain back in December but since Eisenberg has taken on the role of the evil Lex Luthor, it’s not clear what role Mulvey will play. A relative newcomer to the Hollywood scene, Mulvey has some impressive credits to his name including “Zero Dark Thirty,” “300: Rise of an Empire,” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” Okamoto’s only feature credit is her role as Mariko in last year’s “Wolverine” but she will also be appearing in a Japanese mini-series “Chi no wadachi.” The veteran of the trio, Hunter made a name for herself as the neurotic journalist in “Broadcast News” before going on to “The Incredibles,” “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” and an Oscar winning performance in 1993’s “The Piano.” Next up for Hunter is a starring role in “Manglehorn” opposite Al Pacino. Each actor will play a new character that hasn’t appeared in the comic books.
No stranger to big budget films, director Zack Snyder has been at the helm for “Watchmen,” “300,” as well as the original “Man of Steel.”
