Stephen King’s “The Dark Tower” Moves Forward With Jeff Pinkner

has come on board . He will be co-writing a new screenplay with Akiva Goldsman, who has been attached to the project for a few years. The writers have now chosen to focus on the first novel in Steven King’s classic Dark Tower series, The Gunslinger. The story centers upon Roland Deschain, the last gunslinger who has been chasing after his adversary, “the man in black”, through a vast desert and beyond for many years. The project is now being developed by Sony and MRC. Early on, the project was under Universal, before jumping to Warner Bros., with Sony currently producing film. Ron Howard was previously attached to direct, but has stayed as a producer. 

Pinkner has served as an executive producer and writer on the television series Lost, Alias and Fringe. He is set to develop an upcoming medieval series titled Knightfall for A&E.
