In 1994, Steve Buscemi and Adam Sandler co-starred in the cult classic comedy Airheads, kicking off what appears to be among the greatest Hollywood friendships of all-time, at least as far as movies are concerned.
After sharing the screen a dozen times, Buscemi and Sandler are set to re-team for the 13th time in the Netflix comedy THE WEEK OF, the Tracking Board has learned.
The film follows Sandler and Chris Rock as they prepare for the wedding of their children, played by Allison Strong and Roland Buck III, respectively.
Robert Smigel will direct from a script he co-wrote with Sandler, who is producing under his Happy Madison banner along with Allen Covert. Barry Bernardi and Tim Herlihy will serve as executive producers.
Production is set to start this summer on Long Island, and the film will premiere next year on Netflix.
Besides Airheads, Sandler and Buscemi have worked together on Billy Madison, The Wedding Singer, Big Daddy, Mr. Deeds, I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, The Cobbler, Grown Ups and its sequel, Hotel Transylvania and its sequel, and finally, the Netflix release The Ridiculous 6. He’s represented by WME and Gotham Group.
