Steve Martin and Jennifer Lopez have signed on to voice characters in HOME, the DreamWorks Animation feature formerly known as “Happy Smekday!.”
The adaptation of the Adam Rex book “The True Meaning of Smekday” tells the story of an alien race that invades Earth and starts to reorganize the planet. But one girl (voiced by Rihanna) manages to escape only to find herself teaming up with a banished alien named Oh (voiced by Jim Parsons).
Martin will voice the role of the alien leader, Captain Smek, while Lopez will play the girl’s mother.
Tim Johnson, who co-directed “Antz” and “Over the Hedge,” is directing Home from a script Tom J. Astle and Matt Ember (Get Smart) are currently writing. Chris Jenkins and Suzanne Buirgy are producing with DWA head of development Gregg Taylor overseeing the project.
Martin is repped by WME. Lopez is repped by CAA.
