Stuart Beattie Has Been Tapped To Pen The “Untitled Erik Prince Biopic”


has been tapped to write the screenplay for the . The film comes from Voltage Films, who produced the Best Picture Oscar- winning film The Hurt Locker.

The project is based upon the story of Erik Prince, an ex-Navy SEAL and heir to an auto parts fortune that built a training facility for elite mercenaries called Blackwater, whose for-hire services were employed by the U.S. government to fight the war on terror, supply security in war-torn Iraq, had classified contracts worth billions, and a relationship with the CIA, which operated out of a secret annex in the North Carolina facility. The film draws off of Prince’s autobiography, Civilian Warriors, and the Adam Ciralsky Vanity Fair article about Prince entitled Tycoon, Contractor, Soldier, Spy.

Beattie has written several features, including 30 Days of Night, Australia, and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. He also wrote and directed I, Frankenstein, and has a story credit on Pirates Of The Caribbean: Curse Of The Black Pearl. He’ll next write Without Remorse, Halo, Northern Lights, and Tarzan for David Yates. He’s also slated to write and direct Truce.
