Everyone has skeletons in their closet, even (especially?) rich people!
To that end, STXfilms has optioned the spec script THE NEW NEIGHBORS and attached Leslye Headland (Bachelorette) to direct the film, the Tracking Board has confirmed.
David Schickler (Banshee) wrote the original script, which has since been revised by Allison Burnett and Headland.
Matt Berenson will produce the movie with the Gotham Group’s Lee Stollman and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, while Schickler and Headland will serve as executive producers.
The New Neighbors is described as psychological thriller in the vein of Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train. The story follows a couple who move into an affluent suburban community only to discover that their neighborhood is filled with dirty secrets.
Schickler co-created the violent Cinemax series Banshee, while Headland recently directed TV Land’s reboot of Heathers. She also has plenty of experience in features, having previously directed Sleeping with Other People and the hit indie comedy Bachelorette. I enjoyed both of those films, so it’s great to see her line up another movie.
Headland is represented by UTA and Anonymous Content, while Schickler is repped by CAA and the Gotham Group. Deadline broke the news.
