Magnolia Pictures has picked up the North American rights to Gustav Möller’s thriller THE GUILTY, which screened in the World Dramatic Competition section of the Sundance Film Fsetival.
Produced by Lina Flint, Möller’s film is a presentation of Nordisk Film Spring and New Danish Screen. Written by Möller and Emil Nygaard Albertsen, it stars Jacob Cedergren, Jessica Dinnage, Johan Olsen, Omar Shargawi and Katinka Evers-Jahnsen.
It deals with an former policeman now working as an alarm dispatcher who answers an emergency call from a kidnapped woman. After she’s disconnected, it sends him on a desperate search for the woman that leads to a much larger crime.
The deal was negotiated by John Von Thaden, Senior Vice President of Acquisitions at Magnolia Pictures and Susan Wendt, Director of International Sales & Marketing at TrustNordisk on behalf of the filmmakers.
