SUPERGIRL is going back to explore the Danvers sisters’ childhood and has recast some key roles for Season 3, Tracking Board has confirmed.
The Americans‘ Olivia Nikkanen will play a young Alex Danvers, played by Chyler Leigh in present day, and The Fosters‘ Izabela Vidovic will play a high-school aged Kara, played by Melissa Benoist as the grown-up Supergirl.
The actresses will make their debut on the show in an episode called Midvale, which sees the sisters return to their hometown and reliving a high school murder mystery that shaped their relationship as youths.
Young Kara and Alex were previously played in flashbacks by Malina Weissman and Jordan Mazarati, respectively.
Other casting changes to Season 3 of the CW superhero series include Kate McGrath being upped to series regular and Floriama Lima, who played Alex’s girlfriend Maggie, returning only as a recurring guest star for the upcoming season.
Other new cast members include Adrian Pasdar, Carl Lumbly, Yael Grobglas and Emma Tremblay.
Supergirl returns for Season 3 on Monday, October 9 on The CW.
