Syfy Sets Hit Novel “The Magicians” Series



Syfy has given the green light to the , based on the novel by Lev Grossman. The project will be produced by Universal Cable Productions. Described as an adult Harry Potter, the story follows a grad student that finds a secret upstate New York school for magic called Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy. A Most Violent year star Jason Ralph is set to play the lead. The first season will consist of twelve episodes.

In response to the series moving forward, Syfy president David Howe responded,

“The Magicians’ pilot beautifully delivers a world filled with wonder, fantasy and intrigue. We can’t wait to delve deeper into the lives of Quentin and his college friends, as they struggle with the enormity of their burgeoning powers — and unleash them upon the world.”
