Sylvester Stallone will guest star on Season 2 of THIS IS US, showrunner Dan Fogelman announced Thursday at the show’s TCA summer press tour panel.
The actor, who previously starred opposite This Is Us star Milo Ventigmilia in Rocky Balboa, will play himself on Season 2 of the NBC drama.
Fogelman told a group of reporters after the show’s panel that Stallone will appear in one episode – for now – and will be a co-star of Justin Hartley’s character Kevin, who jetted off to film a big movie in the Season 1 finale.
The movie is a wartime period piece.
“It’s a war film so Stallone is basically coming in as himself but playing a character in the film who’s kind of a mentor figure, who starts bringing up some stuff for Justin’s character and his relationship with Jack,” Fogelman said.
This Is Us returns for Season 2 on Tuesday, September 26 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
