CONVICTION

Screen Shot 2015-04-30 at 3.08.38 PM After the courts release a woman’s five alleged rapists due to the lack of supporting evidence, her family takes the law into their own hands and kills one of them. Now, the greatest attorneys of the 20th century, Clarence Darrow, must defend the family but for the first and only time in his career, he might be fighting for the wrong side.

Conviction ExcerptSeason 1, Episode 12 – On this week’s Conviction, the CIU team must investigate the case of a terrorism suspect who’s been held for six years without trial. But the real drama on this week’s episode comes from the fact that we finally meet Hayes’ father, former President Morrison.

Conviction ExcerptSeason 1, Episode 11 – As Hayes and Wallace attempt to make a real go of things romantically, the CIU team is drawn in to an active crime investigation. Another murder has taken place which fits the pattern of the infamous Black Orchid serial killer. Is the man the system put behind bars for the crime actually innocent, or is a copycat on the loose?

Conviction Excerpt Season 1, Episode 10 – Hayes and the CIU team tackle a controversial case involving a girl serving a life sentence for murdering a college basketball star she accused of raping her. Elsewhere, Hayes and Wallace attempt to figure out there out their relationship status, while Tess finally comes clean to the man she sent to prison.

Conviction Excerpt Season 1, Episode 8 – When a teenage girl who’s been missing for ten years turns up alive, the CIU team must investigate the case of the man who was convicted of kidnapping and murdering her. There’s a catch though – one of their own is the man who put the alleged kidnapper away the first time.

Conviction Excerpt Season 1, Episode 7. This week, the Conviction team re-opens the case of a man with diminished capacities convicted of arson, as documentary team films their investigation. For a show that loves to be controversial, this episode really doesn’t have much to say.

Conviction ExcerptSeason 1, Episode 6 – The accidental death of an African-American boy, shot by a cop, sparks a racial firestorm and leads Hayes and her team to re-examine a controversial case. The best part of this episode is honestly that Hayes herself is in so little of it – and several secondary characters, particularly Merrin Dungey’s Maxine are given a chance to shine.

Conviction Excerpt Season 1, Episode 5 – Fallout from her shocking interview has the CIU investigating a case that pits the haves vs. the have-nots, as Hayes attempts to make amends to her mother, Jackson and Wallace. If we all just accept that this show is a soap opera instead of a serious drama, it’s kind of fun.

Conviction ExcerptSeason 1, Episode 4 – The CIU team must investigate the case of a woman who went to prison for poisoning her own son on this week’s Conviction, as Hayes must face the music for her recent transgressions on national television. A somewhat unremarkable episode, but it’s much more solid than last week.

Conviction ExcerptSeason 1, Episode 3 – The third episode of legal drama Conviction does some of its best character work yet, as the CIU team divides over a case involving a controversial and disturbing defendant. If you can ignore the incredibly contrived ending to this week’s case-of-the-week plot, it’s probably the show’s most intense episode to date.

Conviction ExcerptSeason 1, Episode 2 – The second episode of new legal drama Conviction has many of the same problems as its first. The show still can’t seem to decide what kind of character it wants its leading lady to be, and much of the episode’s case-of-the-week plot felt predictable. However despite its flaws, there’s still something appealing at the heart of Conviction, and star Hayley Atwell continues to shine.

Logline: Story follows a mastermind bank robber who serves five years in prison following a botched heist. He is forced by an FBI agent to entrap his protege, who’s in the midst of a multimillion-dollar job.
