Things are heating up in the Los Angeles bloc and the Green Zone alike, as questions about Phyllis’s brutal murder cause Will to take a close look at his own wife, Katie. The episode felt strong for mid-season, with hints of great drama to come in clashes between principal characters.

Well this series is definitely blurring the lines of who to root for. Obviously the “Visitors” aka alien invaders are the big baddies, but they have yet to be revealed on the show. So we’re left watching our fellow humans running around, scrambling to get the upperhand.

colony
This week’s episode of USA’s new series Colony was a step back in the right direction after a mostly “meh” second episode. Don’t mistake me, I wasn’t blown away, but they planted some interesting story seeds this episode that have me curious enough to keep following.

colony
The second episode of a series can make or break a show. The pilot, a single dot on a chart, can stand or fall on its own. But once the second episode airs, lines must connect to plot a clear direction. Unfortunately I’m not sure that this episode sends us in the best direction.

Aliens. Okay, yeah we’ve seen it before, we’ve even seen it in Los Angeles before. Many times. But this is less a story of the invasion than it is about the occupation. What happens after the invasion, or as the characters in this story call it, The Arrival.

fargo-season-2
And there you have it. The tenth and final installment of Fargo’s second season. And what an epic ride it was. For a show with as much of a critically praised first season (not to mention a beloved movie as its source material) to not just live up to the hype but exceed it is nothing short of a miracle.

fargo-season-2
The episode opens with a book about violent happenings in Fargo being read to us by an unseen narrator. After flipping through pages he tells us what we’re about to see unfold is one of the most violent encounters in South Dakota history. And he’s right.

fargo-season-2
This week we finally got to catch up with the good ol’ Blomquists (and their captive Dodd Gerhardt) and see what they’d been up to while the stories of Simone, Bear, Floyd, Lou, Hank, Mike, and the remaining Kitchen Brother played out.

fargo-season-2
I have to say that, though still outstanding, last night’s episode of FARGO was probably my least favorite of the bunch so far. The cast killed it, the story went in interesting directions, and I was still as captivated as ever when the credits rolled, but there were no standout moments I couldn’t wait to write about.

fargo-season-2
After the previous week’s cliffhanger in which Gerhardt grandson and cripple Charlie botched the assassination of butcher Ed Blomquist, he was arrested, along with Ed, and brought to the local police station. This set the episode for a series of confrontations that were some of the most tense, most intriguing of the season thus far.

fargo-season-2
Only halfway through the second season of Fargo and it feels like we’ve moved into the third and final act of a high stakes suspense thriller. Again with all the plot advancements this week, I find myself baffled with where this story can possibly take us with still half its season remaining. And that’s a great thing.

fear-the-walking-dead
I’m not quite sure why the title of the series is called Fear The Walking Dead when the dead are so sparsely seen throughout its first 5 episodes that it’s difficult to fear them for more than a minute at a time. What we’re really left to fear are human beings, soldiers and citizens, and after this last episode, that might not be cutting it.
