Following a recent bidding war, Participant Media has acquired the spec The Price of Liberty from writer Michael Gunn. They will produce alongside Jane Rosenthal and Robert De Niro of Tribeca Films and Cary Granat of Reel FX.

Inspired by true events at the end of the Cold War, a young American diplomat and two senators, one Democrat and one Republican, implement a plan to secure the dangerous, unprotected nuclear material of the fallen Soviet Union before it can fall into the wrong hands.

Logline: Fraternity brothers and evil elves battle it out on Christmas eve.
