“Death Wish” Remake and Now-Delayed “Heathers” Reboot Illustrate Hollywood’s Issues With Real World Violence
“Paramount made the Heathers pilot available to critics online after the Parkland shooting two weeks ago. Early reviews were not kind, to say the least, so when Paramount made the announcement about delaying the premiere, it raised more than a few eyebrows,” writes Neil Turitz.
“I’m not sure what to make of Bruce Willis as an actor these days. This is a weird performance, full-stop. Not good. Not bad. Weird. Willis hasn’t been seen in a theatrical lead role since 2013, and he’s oddly inexpressive these days,” writes Drew McWeeny.
MGM will release Eli Roth’s remake, adapted from Brian Garfield’s novel by Joe Carnahan, on March 2.
The remake of the 1974 revenge thriller that helped start the genre trend and revived the career of Charles Bronson is written by Joe Carnahan and directed by Eli Roth with a release slated for November 22.
