Oscar-winner Alicia Vikander will star as Lara Croft in the forthcoming reboot of the action-adventure series Tomb Raider, it was announced Thursday.

Letterman is set to direct the highly-anticipated adaptation of the iconic role-playing game from Warner Bros., Vertigo and Hasbro.

After making a splash with his Best Foreign Language Oscar submission The Wave, Norway’s Roar Uthaug will helm the much-anticipated Tomb Raider reboot for Warner Bros., MGM and GK Films.

Nemesis, which had previously been in development at 20th Century Fox with Smokin’ Aces helmer Joe Carnahan to direct, is now in active development at Warner Bros.

Based on the iconic game, a warrior and his band of mystical creatures – including a half-dragon and a cunning gnome – embark on a dangerous journey to find a mythical treasure.

Based on “The Odyssey” by Homer, follows a soldier in the near future who leads a group of abandoned soldiers on a 10-year journey back home, facing shipwrecks, an opponent wearing Cyclops armor and the call of sirens.
