The ninth season of HBO’s popular comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm has added Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen to their growing cast. The husband and wife will reprise their roles as themselves and will join core cast members Lary David, Jeff Garlin, Cheryl Hines, and Susie Essman.

The 1980s Eclipse comic book Scout by legendary comic book artist Timothy Truman is set to get the big screen treatment courtesy of Studio 8. The company recently acquired the film option to the action/adventure series with Chris MacBride on board to write and direct the adaptation.

Based on the comic book series, the story follows an Apache ex-Army Ranger who, while on a personal/spiritual mission, investigates the disappearance of young women and in the process uncovers a far-reaching conspiracy involving local gangs, human slavers, oil companies and corrupt government officials.

Logline: In this world, Sinbad is not a man but is a title held by the world’s greatest adventurer… passed down through the ages from one man to another. When the 13th Sinbad is kidnapped, his adopted daughter must assume the title and captain her father’s ship and unite its motley crew, to voyage across a world not yet ready for a female Sinbad.

Over the past several days, two networks, ABC and CBS, as well as the cable channels TNT and MTV, have picked up four brand-new drama series, continuing the Peak TV trend that’s gotten bigger and bigger in the last couple of years.

Religious and faith-centric dramas are becoming a big trend this development season as ABC has just put into development Grace from Mandeville TV, written by Eyal Podell and Jonathan E. Stewart.

Charles Dickens’ novel Oliver Twist is the latest classic to get the television treatment with NBC giving the contemporary take a script commitment. Joel Silver and Lionsgate are behind the adaptation with scribes Chad Damiani and J.P. Lavin penning the pilot.

The Three Misfortunes of Gepetto scribe Michael Vukadinovich has been tapped to write a fresh take on the beloved children’s classic The Phantom Tollbooth for Tristar Pictures. The book, first published in 1961, was written by Norton Juster and illustrated by Jules Feiffer.

The Amy Adams dramedy An Object of Beauty has tapped screenwriter Mike Goldbach to adapt Steve Martin’s 2010 book. Goldbach inherits the writing duties from scribe Ned Benson, who penned the first draft of the adaptation.

Adrianne Palicki has been cast opposite Seth MacFarlane in his new hourlong comedy-drama for Fox. Scott Grimes, who has collaborated with MacFarlane on various projects (Family Guy and American Dad), will also appear in the series.

A slew of actors are moving to National City for season two of The CW’s Supergirl. The latest addition is Det. Maggie Sawyer, played by Floriana Lima, who takes a special interest in cases involving aliens.

Scott Cooper-directed drama Hostiles has added Adam Beach to the cast. He joins previously cast Christian Bale, Rosamund Pike, and Jesse Plemons.

David Strathairn is set to star opposite Brenton Thwaites in a new Christian drama An Interview with God. Perry Lang will helm the project with a script from Ken Aguado.

The Possibility Of Fireflies has found its leads in Courtney Love and Joey King. The film is an adaptation of Dominique Paul’s popular novel.

Stephenie Meyer is bringing Kendare Blake’s YA novel Anna Dressed In Blood. Cameron Monaghan and Maddie Hasson are set to star.
