Spec Scripts that Hit in May 2022
Between May 2022 and May 2021, there has been a 15.8% decrease in the material hitting the market. This gap has only continued to grow in past years. Dating at its peak, 2019 saw 33 specs out in a single month. Comparing that to now, that is nearly a 51.5% drop-off. While materials have decreased, the success rates have seen a bit more of a u-shape in the last few years.
Described as Galaxy Quest meets Ocean’s Eleven, the film finds Ferrell playing a washed-up TV star who reunites with the actor (Momoa) who played his son, who has since become a huge star.
Oscar winner Nicole Kidman and The Get Down‘s Yahya Abdul-Mateen II are in early talks to join James Wan’s Aquaman as the titular hero’s mother Atlanna and the villainous Black Manta.

Aquaman star Jason Momoa has a very busy few years ahead of him as Netflix has renewed his series Frontier prior to the show’s premiere. The six-episode series is set to debut on Discovery Canada and is still waiting for a premiere date from Netflix.
It looks like Jason Momoa is going from being a Dothraki warlord and an ocean-friendly superhero to being the next man in line to be the titular character in The Crow. The Game of Throne alum is currently in talks to star in Relativity’s noir-soaked, vigilante reboot.

The story follows seven gunslingers that protect a Mexican village from a group of outlaws. The original 1960 film of the same title was a remake of the Japanese film Seven Samurai.
