Chastain has been in discussions to play Beverly for months, but her team had been waiting to see if she’d receive an Oscar nomination for Molly’s Game, which would’ve upped her quote and likely given her more leverage in any negotiation.
Universal won the bid for the original pitch and treatment co-written by Chastain, who will produce the film along with Maven Pictures. Crazy Rich Asians writer Peter Chiarelli will write the script.
