In just one weekend, the race for Best Picture picked up steam and became a certifiable three-way race as Barry Jenkins’ moving three-act drama Moonlight took home the top prize from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association. This win follows both Manchester by the Sea and La La Land winning Best Film from the National Board of Review and the New York Film Critics Circle, respectively.
Following Manchester by the Sea’s top win from the National Board of Review, the New York Film Critics Circle has gone in a different direction, naming La La Land the Best Film of 2016. Plus, a three-way race between La La Land, Manchester, and Moonlight is starting to emerge.
Manchester by the Sea is leading the Gotham Independent Film Awards as the nominees were announced today with four nominations including best feature. They will face off against Certain Women, Everybody Wants Some, Moonlight, and Paterson.
The 2015 Independent Spirit Awards nominations are out! The ceremony was founded by Film Independent, a non-profit organization dedicated to independent film and independent filmmakers. Check out this year’s nominations here!
