Writer-director Rod Lurie has picked up the rights to Black-Eyed Susans, Julia Heaberlin’s bestselling Texas-set crime novel. Lurie is adapting the script with his wife, novelist Kyra Davis.
Logline: Follows the true story of Combat Outpost Keating, one of America’s deadliest battles in Afghanistan. The siege occurred in October 2009, when 53 U.S. troops were attacked by Taliban insurgents that outnumbered them 8 to 1.
Logline: Richard, a writer in need of inspiration, is bogged down in solitude, plagued by alcoholism, when he meets Jack, a mysterious, charismatic vagabond in need of work. Richard agrees to let Jack stay with him, and not before long, the two men engage in a dangerous game of manipulation and intimidation.
