After the courts release a woman’s five alleged rapists due to the lack of supporting evidence, her family takes the law into their own hands and kills one of them. Now, the greatest attorneys of the 20th century, Clarence Darrow, must defend the family but for the first and only time in his career, he might be fighting for the wrong side.
The story follows a screenwriter who takes his wife and daughter to a remote house in the Alps so he can finish writing a sequel to his big hit movie. And then, as in The Shining, unexplained occurrences prompt the writer to begin going mad.
Based on the Vertigo Comics series by Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle, the film will be written and directed by Straight Outta Compton writer Andrea Berloff.
Should Jordan sign on and the film proves to be a hit, Fox could find itself with a nice mid-sized franchise on its hands similar to Sony’s The Equalizer — another character-driven franchise boasting diversity both in front of and behind the camera.
