Droughtlander is finally over! The season picks up four months after Claire and Jamie wash up on the shores of America. The New World poses new problems for the couple since they find themselves far away from their Scottish home, yet still under the thumb of British rule. America is a beautiful, yet troubled place (it still is for that matter) and does not shy away from confronting America’s troubled history within the narrative of the premiere.
Jamie and Claire prepare for a new life in America in the first teaser for Season 4 of Outlander, premiering with 13 new episodes on Starz in 2018.
“It’s really a love letter to the fans and for ourselves, a kind of bubble episode where we get to revel in Jamie and Claire reuniting,” Maril Davis tells Tracking Board of the long-awaited Outlander episode.
“It’s such an interesting episode for Claire and for Brianna, both their challenges and their emotional arcs,” executive producer Maril Davis tells Tracking Board.
Season 3, Episode 2 – Jamie is a shell of his former self without Claire on Outlander. His presence at Lallybroch puts everyone he loves in harm’s way, and has devastating consequences for Fergus. Claire and Frank’s relationship changes, setting a distance that may remain for the rest of their marriage.
Season 3, Episode 1 – In the season premiere of Outlander we find out how life has treated both Claire and Jamie since she went back to the future. Does Jamie survive the battle of Culloden? How does Claire cope with a life without, living Jamie with a man who looks exactly like her former tormentor?
“We never set out like, ‘oh how many episodes should we keep them apart?’ That was never in our minds, because like the fans, we want to see them reunite as soon as possible,” executive producer Maril Davis told Tracking Board.
