critics-choice-excerptThe nominees for the 22nd Annual Critics’ Choice Awards were announced today, and with no surprise, HBO took the top spot raking in 22 nominations while ABC and Netflix tied for second with 14 nods. With critically acclaimed shows like The Americans, the new Donald Glover comedy Atlanta, and the uber-successful The People Vs. OJ Simpson FX ranked fourth.

ABC fills roles big and smalle in No Ordinary Family, Grey’s Anatomy and Charlie’s Angels, while HBO adds an Arrested Development veteran to VEEP, NBC adds Will Ferrell, Whitney Cummings, and a Housewife, TBS adds a trio to Hound Dogs, Newman tackles a new pilot for TV Land, and Common Law adds some McGee… Jack, that is.

Logline: On an island paradise populated by flightless birds, a rag-tag group of outsiders must protect their homeland from a colony of invading green pigs.

Logline: Beaten down by the record industry in Los Angeles, singer/sonwriter Thomas Fisher and his wife Molly pack up and move to Sironia, Texas, to raise their first child near Molly’s brother and his family. Despite the contrast of scenery, Thomas’s resentment over his lost dreams gets the best of him, and he struggles to find peace with his stalled career, until he rediscovers what he loved about music — and Molly — in the first place.
