Hearing: Gemma Arterton is in the early running for the female lead in the UNTITLED ALIEN PREQUEL, set to be helmed by the original director Ridley Scott. (Rumor)
Hearing: MARTIN FREEMAN, has been offered the lead role in MGM’s (possibly) upcoming THE HOBBIT. Freeman, has accepted the role, as of last week… however problems arose going into the weekend. Turns out, Freeman is in a hit contemporary retelling of Sherlock Holmes on TV back in the UK, and may be forced to back out of the film. Ouch! (Confirmed)
Hearing: Last week, and all this weekend we kept hearing that Rachel Weisz had been offered the lead role in recent Angeline Jolie-exited film GRAVITY from Alfonso Cuaron. However, after some rolodex flipping, we’ve confirmed it is… Not true! Yes, Rachel was on a short list, which included previously negotiating actress Scarlett Johansson, along with a who’s who of talented women, including… Olivia Wilde, Sandra Bullock, Abbie Cornish, Marion Cotillard, Carey Mulligan, Sienna Miller, Naomi Watts, Rebecca Hall, and Blake Lively. But that list was short just one name… NATALIE PORTMAN… the woman who was OFFICIALLY offered the role on Monday. (Debunked & Confirmed).
