Already a well established television director with BBC series’ “Merlin” and “Atlantis” under his belt, Declan O’Dwyer has officially signed on to make his directorial debut with his 2013 Hit List and Black List script BROKEN COVE. The project, which was previously set up with Thunder Road, is now eyeing a mid-2014 start with a new team and a $3-5 million budget. The dark revenge tale, which is pitched as being in the vein of “The Departed”, follows a half-Irish half-British man who is forced back to his rural hometown after discovering his brother has been killed. Upon returning home, he quickly finds himself struggling to stay out of the seedy past he left behind. Set to shoot in Ireland, the film will be produced by Energy Entertainment’s Brooklyn Weaver, ArtCastle’s Gary Shore and Jonathan Loughran and the Irish Film Board.
Broken Cove marks the first project for the ArtCastle duo since signing with WME, who will rep worldwide rights and are arranging financing through their WME Independent division.
O’Dwyer is repped by Weaver, who discovered the project in 2013, and James Farrell, Mike Esola and Solco Schuit at WME.
