We’ve just gotten word that D.J. Caruso has signed on to direct MISSISSIPPI MUD for Darko Entertainment. The story follows a severely indebted working class couple, with a child on the way, who are facing foreclosure when they suddenly come into an amount of money that can solve all of their problems if it doesn’t send them deeper into a web of deceit, violence, and revenge first.
2013 Young and Hungry scribe Elijah Bynum wrote the script and will also produce with Sean McKittrick and Michael Hoy.
Caruso is gearing up to direct the thriller “The Disappointments Room.” He’s coming off of 2011’s “I Am Number Four” and family movie “Standing Up” from earlier this year. He’s also attached to reteam with his “Disturbia” and “Eagle Eye” star Shia LaBeouf in “Spy’s Kid.”
He is repped by CAA.
